Persona 5: The Phantom X – Persona 3 Reload crossover story launches with Makoto Yuki’s addition

Sega and Atlus announced that content from Persona 3 Reload will soon be available in Persona 5: The Phantom X for both Japanese and English players. A new story will be added, and the protagonist of Persona 3 Reload, Makoto Yuki, will join the game as a playable character. He’ll be available through a limited-time gacha banner after maintenance is completed on May 21st.

As a huge Persona fan, I’ve been checking out the Western YouTube channel for Persona 5: The Phantom X, and they’ve been dropping some awesome trailers for the P3R crossover! One trailer, in particular, caught my ear – it’s a jazzy remix of P3R’s battle theme, “It’s Going Down Now,” done in the style of P5X. It’s seriously cool!

A trailer hinted that more characters from Persona 3 Reloaded will become playable in Persona 5 X. Players on East Asian servers have already unlocked Yukari, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Fuka, Junpei, Koromaru, and Aigis. The developers of the Chinese version, Black Wings, have also pledged to add Ken and Shinjiro, finishing the full roster of playable characters.

Check out the new trailers and details below. Persona 5: The Phantom X is now available on PC, iOS, and Android. Players in Southeast Asia will receive the first crossover content from Persona 3 Reload about 8 days after the global release.

◆ Persona 3 Reload Special Event – Met by Moonlight Part 1

There’s a mysterious hour that falls between days, known as the Dark Hour. During this time, a huge tower called Tartarus appears, filled with dangerous creatures called Shadows. This story brings together the Phantom Thieves from P5X, who find themselves in a place like Tartarus, and the members of S.E.E.S. from Persona 3 Reload, with whom they team up to fight.

As a Persona fan, I’m super excited to see places like Paulownia Mall from Persona 3 Reload make an appearance! Because this game crosses over with Persona 5, we’re going to get to know the P5X crew in new ways, but also really dive into what the characters from Persona 3 Reload are thinking and feeling. Honestly, if you’re a Persona fan, you absolutely need to check this out.

Summary of the Story

After school one day, Wonder, Riko, and Lufel visit Port Island, a man-made island. On their return trip, things start to get weird, and Wonder gets lost, finding himself trapped in a maze after being separated from his friends.

Trapped within the maze, the main character is ambushed by shadowy figures until a boy named Makoto Yuki intervenes and rescues them. They then find Yukari Takeba, one of Makoto’s friends, but discover she’s become separated from the others.

Wonder and Makoto team up to find their friends, venturing deeper into the maze called Tartarus. Along the way, they stumble upon a strange door, and what lies beyond defies explanation.

 

◆ 5★ Makoto Yuki arrives in P5X!

Makoto Yuki, a character from Persona 3 Reload, is now playable in Persona 5 X (P5X) as a 5-star character. He’s featured in the ‘Most Wanted Phantom Idol Contracts’ event, which increases the chances of getting him and other select characters. Players can also obtain his unique 5-star weapon, the Silent Pistol, through the Arms Deals system.

▼ Most Wanted 5★: Makoto Yuki

Makoto Yuki is a powerful 5-star Fire-type Assassin focused on dealing high damage. He builds up ‘Moon Phase’ stacks through his abilities and support from allies, allowing him to inflict massive damage to enemies. Beyond his offensive capabilities, he’s also great at boosting the stats of his entire team. As a character from Persona 3 Reload, he uses unique ‘Assist’ actions and ‘Theurgy’ skills instead of traditional ranged attacks and the ‘Highlight’ ability.

For a limited time, you can get the Butler Makoto Yuki set in the Shop for 2,880 Meta Jewels. This set includes the Butler Makoto Avatar, a Tea Time profile design, and the Blue Moon Glory profile frame. After June 25th, 2026, at 1:59 AM UTC, the price will increase to 3,200 Meta Jewels.
