Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula Break the Space-Time Continuum

With all the drama happening on Summer House, it seemed like a good moment for Bravo to release its new show, In the City, which follows some of the original cast members as they navigate life outside the Hamptons. However, there’s a catch: In the City was filmed and finished before the scandal became public. This means the new series might feel disconnected from the current situation and a bit irrelevant to viewers.

The first episode tried to address the drama by jumping back and forth in time. It focused on a conversation between Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula following the news that Amanda was dating West Wilson – Ciara Miller’s ex and a friend of Kyle’s – and cameras had to resume filming to capture it. However, instead of presenting events in order, the show immediately led with this conversation, knowing viewers wouldn’t have the patience for a chronological timeline. They prioritized grabbing attention over making sense of the order of events.

The new season starts right after the last one ended, with Kyle and Amanda leaving the Hamptons upset and going their separate ways. Then, the show jumps ahead to January 2026, and we learn they’ve broken up. Three months later, in March, Amanda confirms she’s dating West on Instagram. Cameras start rolling again on April 9th, capturing Amanda and Kyle talking about everything that’s happened.

This conversation is more about Kyle and Amanda processing their past than trying to resolve anything with each other. Kyle feels like, while watching their summer unfold on Summer House, it was clear Amanda had already ended things in her mind. He tells her he wants to support her, but also needs to understand what happened, as it seemed she was done with him. Amanda strongly denies this, insisting she was fully committed and hadn’t been involved with anyone else before their breakup. She’s hurt that Kyle would even question her loyalty. Kyle acknowledges Amanda isn’t a bad person, but says she acted impulsively and without considering his feelings, and he still wants to be there for her now.

After their conversation ends, the story jumps back to September 2025, which is where the series truly starts. Although the beginning plays with time like shows such as Back to the Future or The Last Five Years, the narrative appears to become straightforward from this point on. The key question is whether viewers will connect with Kyle and Amanda’s relationship struggles knowing how things eventually turn out. Does the scandal ruin the whole season, or will knowing the future make the show a strange kind of prequel, where audiences dissect every moment for hints of what’s to come? Either way, Carl is really struggling.
