Parker Posey Is Running The Mob

Okay, so Hulu is clearly trying to capture that same thrilling energy as Traitors, but they’ve done things a little differently with their new show, The Mob. Instead of hidden identities and secret traitors, everyone’s alliances and rivalries are right out in the open. The premise is that a group of celebrities are living in an Italian villa, competing in challenges inspired by classic mob movies for a chance to win up to $250,000. Each episode, they vote for one person to be the “don” – basically, the person in charge of deciding who gets money, who’s safe from elimination, and who’s…out of the game. It makes you wonder, though – do Italian hotel TVs even have reruns of Pawn Stars?

Parker Posey is hosting the new reality competition show, The Mob, and is a perfect fit for the role. According to Rob Mills, an executive at ABC, Alan Cumming paved the way for respected actors to also host reality TV. Mills told Vulture that Cumming proved you can succeed in both scripted dramas and shows like The Traitors without damaging your reputation. This opened up opportunities for others, and when Parker Posey expressed interest in the genre, The Mob felt like the right project. The show is being made by the same companies behind The Traitors – Studio Lambert and Primal Media.

The Mob is adding some well-known personalities to its cast, including Demi Engemann from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Maria Georgas from Bachelor Nation, and Harry Jowsey, among others. Check out the trailer to meet the full group and get a glimpse into their world of competition, loyalty, and betrayal.
