Tyler Blevins, known as ‘Ninja,’ recently shared that he went through a battle with cancer, describing it as a profoundly impactful and enlightening experience.
In March 2024, Ninja publicly shared that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He explained he was surprised and shocked to learn a mole had been identified as melanoma.
Ninja announced he was cancer-free after treatment, but recently shared that his fight isn’t over and he’s still dealing with health challenges.
He told Indy 100 that he later discovered another mole, which was also cancer. Even after its removal, he hasn’t felt completely normal.
Ninja speaks about his experience battling cancer

Ninja explained that he feels like he’s always on guard, constantly watching for potential problems, but he also said the situation has given him a new perspective.
So, it all started with a regular check-up my wife and I had before our Bahamas trip. The doctor spotted a mole on my foot and just told me to watch it. Then, a couple of weeks later, when I went to a different clinic, they decided to take a little sample of it to check it out.
I was so worried when Ninja shared that the biopsy came back showing “super early melanoma.” Thankfully, he and his wife quickly scheduled surgery to remove it. It was while he was recovering that he really started to process how scary everything had been, looking back at all he’d been through.
He remembered feeling particularly vulnerable while recovering on the couch, unable to walk for a few days. It was then he realized how quickly life can change and that anything is possible.
It’s strange-neither of us can feel it. That’s often true with very early-stage cancer; your body doesn’t give you any warning signs, and that can be frightening. I was in good shape, eating well, and exercising regularly, so I certainly didn’t expect to have something life-threatening going on.
He described the experience as truly insightful. While it’s hard to fully explain, he feels fortunate that it was detected early on.
