A popular Syfy series concluded its four-season run last year. Fans have eagerly anticipated the release of the final season, and it will finally be available early next month.
Netflix announced its June lineup, including the final season of Resident Alien. Season 4, which concludes the series, will be available on Netflix starting June 6th. All four seasons are on Peacock, but Netflix subscribers can currently watch the first three, and now binge the last season.
Resident Alien Has a Unique Premise
Resident Alien is a funny and heartwarming sci-fi show. It follows an alien, played by Alan Tudyk (known from Superman), who crash-lands in a small Colorado town with the original goal of wiping out humankind. But after disguising himself as the town doctor, he starts to like people and spends the series trying to figure out what it means to be human, all while hiding his true identity.
The show Resident Alien features Alan Tudyk, who plays the character Harry Vanderspeigle, alongside Sara Tomko (known from The Terminators) as Asta Twelvetrees, a nurse and Harry’s friend. The cast also includes Corey Reynolds (The Closer) as Sheriff Mike Thompson, Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley) as pub owner D’Arcy Bloom, Levi Fiehler (The Fosters) as Mayor Ben Hawthorne, and Judah Prehn (Mythic Quest) as Max, a young boy who is uniquely able to see Harry’s alien form.
I’ve been following this series, and it’s amazing to learn it was brought to life by Chris Sheridan, who not only created it but also oversaw everything as showrunner. It’s based on a comic book I now want to check out – it was originally written by Peter Hogan and illustrated by Steve Parkhouse. A lot of talented people helped bring it all together, including executive producers like Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, David Dobkin, Robert Duncan McNeill, and Cherry Chevapravatdumrong.
It’s Always Possible Netflix Could Revive the Series
Although nothing is certain, moving the entire Resident Alien series to Netflix could significantly improve its chances of being renewed for a fifth season. While the show was previously cancelled, Netflix has a history of reviving shows that gain popularity on their platform. We’ve seen this happen before with series like Manifest, Lucifer, and Arrested Development, all of which received additional seasons exclusively on Netflix.
Fans are now waiting to see if a potential fourth season of Resident Alien will boost the show’s audience. If the series isn’t renewed, it will have ended strongly, as the finale was generally well-received by both fans and critics. While many viewers were disappointed the show was ending – feeling it could have continued for at least one more season – the planned fourth season was designed to wrap up the story without leaving major plot points unresolved.
The fourth and final season of Resident Alien will start streaming on Netflix on June 6, 2026.
