According to MrBeast’s previous manager, it might be too late for another creator to reach the same level of YouTube fame, and he attributes this to changes in the platform’s algorithm.
Reed Duchscher, formerly Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast)’s manager, believes that platforms like YouTube and TikTok have changed, making it much more difficult for creators to achieve the same broad popularity MrBeast experienced.
MrBeast, the most popular creator on YouTube, has built a huge business beyond his online videos. This includes his chocolate brand, Feastables, a gaming company, Beast Games, an ambitious theme park project funded by Saudi Arabia, and several other creative projects. However, according to expert Duchscher, achieving this level of success would be incredibly difficult in today’s digital landscape.
In an interview with Business Insider, Duchscher said that today’s algorithms create highly personalized online experiences. This means people tend to see content focused on their specific interests, rather than being exposed to a wider variety of creators and topics.
MrBeast’s former manager says YouTube’s algorithms are preventing new superstars
He explained that if you enjoy watching videos about travel, cars, or health and beauty, the videos you’re shown will generally focus on those topics.
He believes this change makes it harder for new creators to become as popular as stars like MrBeast, Charli D’Amelio, and Khaby Lame. Their success was aided by older recommendation systems that were better at sharing videos with a large audience.

According to Duchscher, who runs the Night talent agency—also home to creators like Kai Cenat and Hasan Piker—streaming platforms are now more successful when they support a wide range of popular creators, rather than focusing solely on a few huge stars.
He explained that social media companies gain an advantage by attracting a wider range of creators. Creators who focus on specific interests tend to build more loyal audiences, which makes them more reliable and easier to profit from over time.
Duchscher believes creators will find more success by focusing on a specific niche – like gaming, fitness, education, or lifestyle – rather than trying to appeal to everyone.
He explained that it’s simpler to create successful businesses if you have a very specific, large audience, as it makes your product more relevant and appealing to them.
Although creators focusing on specific interests are still successful, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for anyone to achieve the widespread popularity of someone like MrBeast.
For the sixth year in a row, MrBeast (Donaldson) finished 2025 as YouTube’s most popular creator, beating out competitors like IShowSpeed and Outdoor Boys.
Even with recent challenges, MrBeast shows no signs of stopping. He’s announced that 2026 will feature his best work yet, suggesting that while new online stars may be becoming less common, he still has plenty to offer.
