Despite the game’s ropey reputation, Monster Hunter Wilds has been another big success for Capcom.
According to a recent financial report for the third quarter of 2025, the game has sold over 11 million copies. It achieved this milestone in approximately 11 months, which is similar to the sales rate of the franchise’s most popular title, Monster Hunter World.
Although initial sales of Wilds were very strong, they’ve since slowed down considerably compared to its previous version.
Monster Hunter Wilds sold 10 million copies in its first month, making it Capcom’s fastest-selling game ever. While Monster Hunter: World was also a huge success, it took around two months to reach 7.5 million copies, meaning Wilds got off to a much quicker start.
While still popular, Wilds isn’t growing as quickly as World was. It took a month to sell 10 million copies, and another 10 months to reach 11 million, averaging about 100,000 sales each month.
World took roughly the same amount of time to sell 11 million copies as Wilds, but its growth was more consistent and sustainable. World reached 20 million sales in just under four years, while Wilds, at its current rate, might take another seven and a half years to achieve the same number.
As a fan, I think it’s really interesting to look at how Wilds is doing. It’s definitely another success for Capcom, but it feels like the initial excitement died down pretty quickly after the game first came out. Sales were huge at first, but then they dropped off a lot.
