Meg Stalter is heading to Broadway! She jokingly promised to buy a car for every person in Ohio if she landed the role of Mary Todd Lincoln, and now it’s happening. Stalter will be joining the cast of Oh, Mary! this summer, taking over from Maya Rudolph on July 6 for a ten-week run. Fans who loved her energetic performance on Colbert will be thrilled to see her bring that same energy to the Lyceum Theatre.
The biggest question now is what will become of Sarah Sherman’s growing music career. She’d previously said she’d continue making music until she landed an acting role, and now that’s happening, it seems her pop career might be put on hold. It’s funny to think about Mary Todd Lincoln as ‘the prettiest girl in America’ during her time – something you probably hadn’t considered! While it’s too bad Sherman won’t get to play Mary Todd with her signature blonde wig, her natural curly hair will work perfectly for the part.
