A man in Japan was arrested after he sent threatening letters to Nintendo, claiming he had planted bombs at their headquarters and would detonate them.
On May 12th, police arrested a 27-year-old man from Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture, after he allegedly threatened Nintendo’s offices in Kyoto, according to KTV news.
On March 13th, an envelope containing threatening messages arrived at the building. These messages included statements like “I’m going to blow you all up” and “My plans can not be thwarted,” and caused significant disruption to the company’s work.
Suspect claimed to have planted “multiple bombs” at Nintendo office
The message also threatened that several bombs had been placed in the building. Police thoroughly searched the building and its surroundings, but found no bombs or any evidence of explosives.
After his arrest, the man is said to have confessed to the crime, though police are still investigating why he did it.

Nintendo has faced similar threats before. They had to cancel both the 2023 Splatoon Koshien National Finals and Nintendo Live 2024 in Tokyo after a 27-year-old individual made threats against the events.
The man was arrested in April 2024, and authorities currently see no connection between this arrest and any other incidents.
