Major 2026 Superhero Comic Announces All-New Title From Industry Legends

To build excitement for their upcoming comic, Terminal, a major publisher is teaming up with some of the industry’s most talented writers and artists. and Skybound are collaborating to bring fresh perspectives to this highly anticipated title.

Legendary comic book artists are creating special variant covers for the first issue of Terminal, which will be released in the summer of 2026.

This new superhero series will feature special variant covers, including two drawn by Andy Kubert. Kubert is well-known for his work on X-Men, which makes him a great fit for this series, as the story shares similarities with the classic Marvel title. He also recently created designs for the latest Robin and collaborated with Grant Morrison on the highly praised Batman comics.

When it comes to Batman, Frank Miller is a hugely influential name. He’s known for his groundbreaking work on the character, and this year he’s collaborated with Alex Sinclair, the colorist from the popular Batman: Hush storyline. Together, they’ve created a special, limited-edition variant cover for Terminal #1 – a striking, foil-covered edition that clearly reflects Miller’s signature style.

Two more variant covers are available for order, including one by David Finch, a long-time X-Men artist, colored by Dave McCaig. The other cover features art by Arthur Adams, another artist famous for his work on the X-Men, and is also colored by McCaig. Adams first gained recognition in the mid-1980s for his X-Men contributions.

Bill Sienkiewicz, a co-creator of Legion, has created a special variant cover available for every 25 copies ordered. He also collaborated with Jay Ramos, a colorist known for his work on titles like Spawn and various X-Men comics, to design another rare variant available for every 50 copies. Additionally, Kubert has illustrated an extremely limited 1:2500 sketch variant cover, and both his and McCaig’s covers are also available in a special Chromium finish.

Skybound is launching a new program where fans can collect almost all the different variant covers for Terminal #1, plus some exclusive bonus items. According to Editorial Director Alex Antone, the covers are all created by famous artists, offering something for every collector. He encourages fans to try and get them all!

Terminal Is Skybound’s Explosive Answer To X-Men

Skybound says readers who love Invincible and classic X-Men comics will definitely enjoy Terminal. But they also warn that even longtime fans of those series won’t be able to predict what happens in this new story.

The story centers on Marilyn Howe’s desperate search for her sister, Alessandra. As she investigates, she unknowingly becomes a target in a secret and violent conflict between two groups with extraordinary powers – groups whose motives are far from clear. Along the way, Marilyn will also discover surprising abilities within herself, changing her life forever as she unravels the truth behind this hidden war.

Robert Kirkman, co-founder of Skybound Entertainment and currently COO of Image Comics, is collaborating with comic book veteran Joe Casey (known for his work on Uncanny X-Men and his creator-owned series at Dynamite) to write Terminal. Andy Kubert will provide the illustrations, with Dave McCaig handling colors, and Rus Wooton (of Transformers fame) doing the lettering.

Terminal #1 hits the shelves on July 22.
