Let’s be real, Love Is Blind often has its share of unpleasant characters. Past seasons featured guys like Shayne, Clay, Shake, and Jeramey who definitely caused drama. But this season in Ohio, Chris has taken things to a whole new level – many viewers are calling him the most problematic cast member in the show’s history.
Chris is undeniably awful, and while he’s certainly good at being unpleasant, that’s not the core of why he’s so bad. Over just three episodes, we see him dump his doctor fiancée, Jess, because she isn’t fit enough. The very next day, he’s posting pictures of himself at a strip club. Then, he sets his sights on another woman, Breezy, who is engaged to one of his friends, and tries to convince her to leave him, dismissing her fiancé as weak. He repeats phrases like “I don’t care at all” constantly. It’s painful to watch, but it’s not even the biggest reason he’s such a terrible person.
He earned his reputation not because of obvious flaws, but because he cleverly concealed his problematic behavior for the first part of the show. Unlike the other men, who quickly revealed their issues, Chris and Jess initially seemed like the perfect couple – deeply in love, physically attracted, and aligned on major life decisions like having children. He never voiced any concerns to the cameras or, importantly, to Jess herself. That’s what makes his eventual behavior so shocking – disappearing for two days and then telling her she wasn’t attractive enough. He was different from the others because he understood how bad behavior looked, deliberately hid it, and then acted on his impulses without any regard for her feelings. We actually found ourselves supporting him, which is deeply unsettling.
