A Twilight remake might actually happen! Kristen Stewart recently said she’d be open to directing a new version of the film that launched her career. While at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Entertainment Tonight asked Stewart about potentially directing a remake, especially after her successful directorial debut with The Chronology of Water. She explained that she and a friend had been discussing the movie, which airs frequently during the holidays, and wondering how it holds up over time. Then, she excitedly admitted, “I would love to readapt it. Yeah, sure. I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it. I’m committed!”
Despite wanting to reimagine the films, Kristen Stewart emphasized her appreciation for the original directors – Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz, and others. She praised their unique and authentic style, noting they brought a raw, present energy to the movies because they were still early in their careers. While a straight remake isn’t her goal, she jokingly suggested someone give her the funding and rights to tell the story from Edward’s perspective.
