Dan Reynolds, the lead singer of Imagine Dragons, released a game that has quickly lost players. After just under a month, fewer than 100 people are now playing it.
Last Flag is the first game from Night Street Games, a studio founded in 2020 by the lead singer of Imagine Dragons. It’s a 5-on-5 multiplayer game that puts a fresh spin on the classic Capture the Flag, blending it with features from hero shooter games and the excitement of old-fashioned game shows.
The game launched on April 14th, and while it was affordable at $15, it didn’t gain much of a following. Even though Dan Reynolds’ brother, Mac Reynolds – who also manages the band and co-founded the studio – stated that player numbers weren’t the primary concern, the game had trouble attracting players.
Last Flag player count dips below 100 on Steam
The game initially attracted 558 players on Steam the day it launched, but interest has since declined. Currently, only 16 people are playing, and the highest number of players in the last 24 hours was 75, according to SteamDB.

For the third day in a row, the game’s highest number of players in a 24-hour period has fallen below 100. It reached only 87 players on April 28th and 95 on April 29th. While player numbers were a bit higher the previous weekend, peaking at 168 on Friday, April 24th, they were still relatively low.
It’s understandable that Last Flag, being the first game from a new development team, isn’t performing as well as established titles like Arc Raiders and Overwatch. Also, these player numbers are only from Steam – the total number of players is likely higher when you include those playing on the Epic Games Store.
We’ve learned from experience that it can be really difficult to continue updating and maintaining live service games if they don’t have enough players.
Many online games have failed quickly after release, like Highguard, Concord, Babylon’s Fall, and Anthem, often due to low player numbers. However, Last Flag is a more modest project, so its developers likely have different goals. It remains to be seen how Dan Reynolds and the team will continue to develop and support the game.
