Guild Wars Reforged launches this summer for iOS and Android

ArenaNet has announced that Guild Wars Reforged will be released on iOS and Android this summer.

So, I’m really excited about Guild Wars Reforged coming to mobile! They’ve totally reworked the UI and controls for touchscreens, and the game itself will be free to download on both phones and tablets. It’ll be supported by ads, but you can get rid of them by linking your ArenaNet account and buying the add-ons. They’re pretty affordable – the first one is $6.99 and lets you carry your progress over from other versions. If you want the Eye of the North and Bonus Mission Pack, those will cost $9.99 and $5.99 respectively. The best part? If you already own Guild Wars Reforged on PC or another platform, you can just log in and keep playing ad-free without spending any extra money. It’s awesome!

Guild Wars Reforged is out now on PC! You can find it on Steam, where it also runs well on the Steam Deck. A mobile version for iOS and Android devices will be released this summer.

This summer, the popular online game Guild Wars is coming to iOS and Android devices as Guild Wars Reforged, with a user interface and controls designed for mobile play. You can download and play the original Prophecies campaign for free, with ads. The other expansions, including an ad-free version of Prophecies, are available for purchase separately for $6.99/£6.49. Buying the full campaign lets you link your ArenaNet account to sync your characters and progress across all your devices, chat with other players, trade items, and remove ads. The Eye of the North expansion and Bonus Mission Pack will also be available on mobile for $9.99/£8.99 and $5.99/£5.49, respectively.

So, if you already own Guild Wars Reforged and have an ArenaNet account, awesome! You can just log in on your phone or tablet and everything you’ve bought and your progress will automatically sync to the version without ads – you don’t need to buy anything extra. If you’re new to the mobile version and signed up with Apple or Google, you can link an email to your account. That way, you can play on PC too, and all your progress will be the same no matter what device you’re using.

You can now pre-register for Guild Wars Reforged on the Google Play Store, and the Apple App Store will follow soon. Before the full launch later this year, the mobile game will be tested in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the Philippines.

To celebrate its 21st anniversary, Guild Wars has received a new update featuring a post-Searing dungeon, fresh quests, and a new playable Mesmer hero named Ghost of Althea. Originally launched in 2005 by ArenaNet, Guild Wars was a groundbreaking MMORPG known for its innovative approach of not requiring a subscription fee. In 2025, the game was relaunched as Guild Wars Reforged in partnership with 2weeks, and quickly gained popularity, seeing a 500% increase in players during its launch week.

Guild Wars Reforged introduced several improvements, including controller support, better compatibility with modern high-resolution monitors, new HD icons, enhanced graphics options like antialiasing and bloom, more font size choices, improved 3D audio, and a quest tracker. Since then, the game has received ongoing free updates adding new challenges and quality-of-life improvements.

According to Game Director Stephen Clarke-Willson, the team leveraged their experience with the Steam and Steam Deck versions to rebuild the user experience for mobile platforms. They also improved the initial experience in the “Pre-Searing” portion of the game. A key feature is cross-platform play, allowing mobile and PC players to share the same servers and seamlessly transfer their progress between devices.

Brandon Dillon, co-founder of 2weeks, expressed his surprise at the game’s longevity, noting that he never anticipated playing Guild Wars on mobile phones after all these years. He credits the game’s strong engineering and ongoing support for its continued success and the ability to preserve player accounts, characters, and memories.
