Sucker Punch Productions announced a new update for their open-world samurai game, Ghost of Tsushima, coming on November 24th. The update adds a New Game Plus mode, allowing players to carry over their progress and even equip firearms alongside traditional samurai weapons for a unique combat experience.
The team behind Ghost of Yotei has released a video on the official PlayStation YouTube channel detailing the New Game Plus update, which is coming as part of the free patch 1.100.000. This mode lets you start the game over with all your previously unlocked equipment and abilities, giving you a head start in combat. You won’t need to re-earn the guns you’ve already unlocked – you’ll begin Atsu’s quest fully prepared.
Plus, you can revisit completed challenges to track your progress and aim for high scores, adjust the difficulty in the options, and buy new items like charms, dyes, and cosmetic upgrades from a new shop.
I was so excited to read the latest news from Sucker Punch! Andrew Goldfarb shared details on the PlayStation Blog about a free update – patch 1.100.000. It’s going to be awesome! They’re adding more ways to customize the controls, a really improved photo mode, and even two new Trophies to earn. Plus, you’ll be able to upgrade your armor and weapons even further, which is exactly what I was hoping for!
We’ve heard more about Ghost of Yotei, and it sounds like the time-bending feature – where Atsu revisits important moments in the story – has been adjusted. Originally, players were meant to be able to use this ability freely, but the development team decided to limit it. Creative director Jason Connell explained that focusing the feature made it work even better.
Ghost of Tsushima has proven to be a hit for both Sucker Punch Productions and Sony. Since launching on PlayStation 5 in early October, the action-adventure game has sold 3.3 million copies and received positive reviews from both critics and players. We gave it a 9 out of 10 in our review, praising it as a strong sequel that effectively expands on the original game.
