G.I. Joe is making a comeback to the movies! Currently, two separate films are being developed. One of these is being written by Max Landis, who also wrote American Ultra.
It’s noteworthy that John Landis is involved in Paramount’s plans to reboot G.I. Joe. This marks a return to major studio work for Landis, who faced multiple accusations of sexual and emotional abuse from women during the height of the #MeToo movement.
Two new G.I. Joe movies are being developed, but they aren’t connected. Both writers, McBride and Landis, are working on their own separate ideas. McBride is still outlining his story, while Landis has already finished his pitch. They aren’t collaborating to create a single, shared universe.
Rumors indicate that Paramount is still considering the potential team-up between Transformers and G.I. Joe that was suggested after Transformers: Rise of the Beasts came out in 2023. If either of the new G.I. Joe projects moves forward, it could pave the way for that crossover to happen.
