Charlie Cox has talked about the possibility of seeing Foggy Nelson in the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again. He recently addressed fan speculation about Foggy’s future, explaining if there were plans to include him in the show.

Charlie Cox reveals canceled plans to keep Foggy alive in Daredevil: Born Again

Charlie Cox shared that the creators of the Daredevil: Born Again series initially thought about keeping Foggy Nelson alive in the story. Ultimately, though, they decided against it. Cox mentioned this while talking about fan speculation, clarifying that the idea was considered but never made it into the final plot.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he shared what he found interesting about a particular idea. He recalled a discussion about a potential plot twist, explaining, “They were considering how shocking it would be if it turned out to be true.” He pointed to a scene from the end of season 1 as an example, noting, “You saw Foggy trapped in a cage.”

We actually did consider going in that direction at one point, but ultimately decided against it. As Courtney Cox explained, it just didn’t feel believable. And honestly, that’s a big thing for our show – we really strive for realism in everything we do, so it had to fit that criteria.

The rumors began with a plotline featuring Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, who creates a team to imprison his enemies. This made some fans wonder if Foggy Nelson might still be alive, held captive by Fisk.

As a huge fan of the show, it was heartbreaking, but the writing really set up Foggy’s eventual fate. Once he started digging into the shady stuff happening at Red Hook Port, he immediately put a target on his back. Then, in a shocking move, Vanessa Fisk – Ayelet Zurer is fantastic in the role – unleashes Bullseye, played by Wilson Bethel, and, tragically, he’s killed off in the very first episode. It was a bold choice, and really raised the stakes.

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on March 24, 2026, on Disney+.
