Florida man who wrote book about loving his wife arrested for having multiple wives

A Florida pastor who authored a book on marital love was arrested on accusations of being married to more than one woman.

On April 20th, 62-year-old Pastor Leslie Williams was arrested on a bigamy warrant, meaning he’s accused of being legally married to more than one person.

Villages News reports that a 62-year-old man was arrested at his home by Sumter County deputies on April 22nd. He was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center and is being held without bail. He also leads a ministry separate from his residence.

The arrest warrant for Williams was issued in early April, but it’s for a crime in Georgia, not Florida. He is currently being held and will be transferred to Georgia to face charges, according to the New York Post.

Pastor Leslie Williams arrested in Florida

The arrest seems to stem from a Facebook post Pastor Williams made in December, where he revealed he had married a woman named Cindy.

According to the Post, Williams wrote “Love Her Like This: Loving Her Has Never Been Deeper,” a book that uses biblical principles to help improve relationships with your wife.

I just saw this post from him and it was so sweet! He was thanking everyone for the lovely things they’ve been saying about his wife, Mrs. Williams, calling her beautiful and talented. He even said she’s ‘saved,’ and praised God for it – it’s just really heartwarming to see!

Some people reacted to Williams’ announcement, with one commenter expressing surprise that they thought he was already married, but still offering their congratulations.

This 62-year-old isn’t alone in facing trouble. Just recently, on April 27th, Sri Lankan officials arrested 22 monks after discovering over 200 pounds of drugs in their bags.

Okay, this is wild. Apparently, Aidan Smith, who’s a pretty important guy – he’s the head priest at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Pittsburgh – got arrested for stealing a grand’s worth of baseball cards from Walmart. Seriously, baseball cards! It’s just…unexpected, you know?
