Bethesda has added several games to the Nintendo Switch 2, and recently launched a new Fallout game. This marks a significant moment, as it’s the first major Fallout title ever released on a Nintendo console.
The Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition are now available on Nintendo Switch 2, both as a physical game with a code in the box and digitally. While Fallout Shelter was previously on the original Switch, this is the first time the main Fallout and Elder Scrolls games can be played on a Nintendo console. This release comes more than 10 years after Fallout 4 first launched on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S arriving in 2024.
Fallout 4 Finally Arrives on a Nintendo Console
Bethesda announced that Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition is now available, bringing the popular post-apocalyptic world of Boston to a new platform. It’s been a decade since players first emerged from Vault 111 as the Sole Survivor, and millions have since explored and rebuilt the ruins of the Commonwealth. Fallout 4 lets players wear Power Armor, construct settlements, uncover the region’s mysteries, and ultimately shape its destiny – all with a sense of freedom, choice, and delightful unpredictability.
Players on Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to enjoy the complete Fallout 4 experience. This version includes the original game, all six official expansions, and over 150 pieces of content created by the community. You’ll find new quests, weapons, outfits, and ways to customize your game. However, there won’t be a separate Creations menu – all of this extra content has been directly integrated into the game itself. This is the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition for Switch 2.
Fallout’s Future Remains Unclear
It’s been over ten years since Fallout 4 came out, and the future of the Fallout series is still uncertain. While Fallout 5 has been officially approved, there’s no word on when it might be released. Reports suggest that full production won’t begin until after Elder Scrolls VI is finished, and that game doesn’t have a release date yet either.
The popular video game series Fallout is experiencing a resurgence thanks to its successful TV show on Amazon. After two well-received and highly-watched seasons, a third season is currently being developed. Because the show and games share the same universe, future Fallout games, including Fallout 5, could potentially feature characters or storylines connected to the Prime Video series.
Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition is now released on Nintendo Switch 2, as well as Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
