Elon Musk has officially become the world’s very first trillionaire after taking SpaceX public.
On June 12, 2026, SpaceX (Nasdaq: SPCX) began trading on the stock market. Shares opened at $150 each, which was $15 higher than their expected price of $135 per share.
The company’s recent IPO raised an unprecedented $75 billion, making its total value a remarkable $1.8 trillion. This aerospace and satellite communications manufacturer is now worth more than many entire countries.
Elon Musk’s stake in SpaceX is now worth around $982 billion, bringing his total net worth to an estimated $1.1 trillion – making him the first person in the world to reach trillionaire status.

Elon Musk is Tesla’s biggest shareholder, owning more than 500 million shares – roughly 15 to 28% of the company’s stock.
Along with his large ownership stakes in SpaceX and Starlink, this has made the world’s wealthiest person even more successful.
In 2021, Elon Musk became the world’s richest person when Tesla’s stock price surged, pushing his net worth over $185 billion and surpassing Jeff Bezos, who previously held the title.
Thursday was a great night for Elon Musk. After SpaceX set its share price at $135, his wealth jumped dramatically from $188 billion to an impressive $982 billion.
Elon Musk shared some encouraging thoughts today: “I constantly remind myself that problems will always exist here on Earth. There will always be areas needing improvement, challenges we want to overcome, and we should address them. But it’s also vital to pursue things that genuinely excite us.”

Musk spoke out after the IPO in a public speech, which he shared to X in a short video.
He often reflects on the challenges facing our world. He believes there will always be issues to address and improvements to make, and that we have a responsibility to work towards solutions.
