Edge of Memories soundtrack preview album released on Spotify and Apple Music featuring five tracks

Nacon and Midgar Studio, the creators of Edge of Eternity, have released a preview of the soundtrack for their new action RPG, Edge of Memories. The album, titled Edge of Memories Original Game Soundtrack Discovery Edition, gives players a taste of the music they can expect in the game.

The full game, Edge of Memories, will be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). NACON and Midgar Studio have released five songs from the soundtrack of their French JRPG, Edge of Memories. The music was composed by Cédric Menendez, with help from other talented artists. The EP, called the Discovery Edition, is available now on all major digital music services like Spotify, Deezer, and Apple Music. It’s published by Wayô Records, a French label created by experts in Japanese entertainment.

The Edge of Memories soundtrack features music not only by Cédric Menendez, but also by several well-known artists. Mariam Abounnasr, known for her work on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and ONINAKI, composed four tracks, and Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer of Chrono Trigger and Xenogears, created the ending theme. The vocals are enhanced by contributions from Emi Evans, famous for her work on the NieR series, and Marion Schneider, who has contributed to Edge of Eternity and Temtem.

Cédric Menendez creates music inspired by classic Japanese role-playing games, but with his own unique style. His compositions delve into the game’s central ideas, like people migrating, a world battling illness, discovering where things come from, and learning to survive in a world that’s constantly changing.

As a longtime fan of JRPGs, I really enjoyed creating the soundtrack for Edge of Memories. It was a great challenge to capture the game’s powerful story through music. I believe music should enhance emotions, and in a game, it needs to be present in every scene – from exploring new areas to watching cutscenes and battling enemies – to truly connect players with the world and make them feel everything.

According to composer Cédric Menendez of Midgar Studio, the music is built up in layers to smoothly transition between moments in the story, like the start and finish of a conflict. The aim is to make the music enhance the narrative, fit the game’s world, and complement the characters. Working with experienced composers known for their work on popular games in this style has also improved the soundtrack.

I’ve loved music and video games ever since I was a kid, so I actually studied musicology in college. I spent years playing in bands, trying out all sorts of genres, before landing at Midgar Studio back in 2010. My first project there was Hover, and it was awesome because we even got to include some tracks by Hideki Naganuma, who did the music for Jet Set Radio! After that, I composed the soundtrack for Edge of Eternity, and then Edge of Memories too.
