A duck sporting a Mexico soccer jersey was spotted walking around Mexico City, showing its support for the team.
Mexico began their World Cup journey on June 11th with a match against South Africa, which also served as the tournament’s opening game. The game was unusually filled with red cards – South Africa received two, and Mexico one – but Mexico ultimately won 2-0, earning them three points.
Mexican soccer fans are known for being incredibly enthusiastic, and they proved it again on Thursday. Before and after the match, thousands packed not only the stadium but also the nearby fan areas and streets.
Ducks shows support for Mexico during World Cup
Fans at the event were surprised to see an unexpected guest join the celebrations, and videos quickly spread online.
A duck, believed to be an American Peking duck, caused a stir in Mexico City by waddling around outside the stadium wearing a Mexico jersey. Videos of the duck quickly went viral online.

It’s unknown where the duck originated, but it was seen roaming around Mexico City on Saturday, June 13th.
Mexico’s upcoming match is versus South Korea in Guadalajara, which is about 310 miles (500 kilometers) from Mexico City. It’s unlikely the famous ‘El Tri’ inflatable will show up anywhere else unless Mexican fans decide to bring it with them.
