Dragon Ball Officially Revives 1 of GT’s Most Forgotten Villains With New First Look

Dragon Ball GT is still a controversial part of the Dragon Ball series because it moved away from the original story created by Akira Toriyama. However, a popular villain from the series is getting a new release that fans will be excited about.

Banpresto’s Match Makers line is releasing a new figure of Super Yi-Shenron, known as Omega Shenron to fans outside of Japan. He’s the strongest form of Syn Shenron, the final of the seven Shadow Dragons created by the One-Star Dragon Ball.

I’ve been checking out the new Super Yi-Shenron figure, and it’s cool because it’s designed to go with the Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta figure – they’re releasing that one this month too! Together, the two figures let you recreate one of the epic battles from the Dragon Ball GT anime.

Banpresto Reveals New Super Yi-Shenron Figure from Dragon Ball GT

The Super Yi-Shenron figure is about 8 inches tall and radiates power and confidence, according to the official description. It’s sculpted in a dynamic pose, as if ready to strike Gogeta. This figure is made entirely of PVC plastic and is produced by Bandai Spirits.

The Super Yi-Shenron figure will initially be a prize available only through crane games in Japan. But fans outside of Japan can pre-order it before it officially launches in September 2026.

Banpresto’s Match Makers line features action figures paired up to depict iconic battles from anime series. Previous releases in the line have included figures recreating the fight from the Future Trunks Saga.

Dragon Ball GT’s Shadow Dragons were the Perfect Antagonists

The Shadow Dragons appeared in Dragon Ball GT as the ultimate villains, created by the negative energy that built up from overuse of the Dragon Balls. The strongest of them, Omega Shenron, achieved this power by forcibly absorbing all seven Dragon Balls.

The villain aimed to utterly destroy the universe, but also to bring back all the Namekians Frieza had killed. Omega Shenron proved to be a powerful opponent, easily defeating Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta in their combined attacks. However, the Saiyan pair then used a special technique and quickly gained the upper hand in the fight.

The combined warrior was far stronger than Omega Shenron, and the scene shows Omega desperately struggling against his opponent. This happens right before Gogeta uses a powerful attack to remove the Dragon Balls that Omega had absorbed.

Fans particularly remember the Shadow Dragons from GT because they showed a real downside to wishing on the Dragon Balls too often. Many still hope this idea will be revisited in the main Dragon Ball Super story.
