A major Marvel hero may be headed for Hell’s Kitchen for Daredevil: Born Again season three.
The new Disney+ series continues the story of Netflix’s Daredevil, with Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio returning as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Born Again has generally been well-received by both fans and critics.
Iman Vellani, known for playing Ms. Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2023, recently shared her excitement about the upcoming Born Again series. During an interview on the Revenge Of podcast, she mentioned that she had just visited the New York set of season three. While it’s possible this was just a friendly visit, many fans are speculating it could mean Ms. Marvel will be appearing in the new season.
Vellani isn’t the only familiar face returning for season three of Born Again. The second season already saw Mike Colter reprise his role as Luke Cage, with Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones. Reports suggest Finn Jones will also be back, bringing the entire Defenders team together again after a decade.
It’s currently uncertain what the future holds for Iman Vellani’s character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ms. Marvel first aired three years ago, but a second season hasn’t been announced. Her co-star, Aramis Knight, has indicated that a second season is unlikely, stating that discussions haven’t happened recently. He explained that while he’d love to return, plans for further appearances fell through due to logistical issues, COVID-related complications, and creative decisions.
Since her debut in Ms. Marvel, Iman Vellani has appeared in The Marvels alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris. However, The Marvels didn’t do well with either critics or audiences, and Vellani commented on the film’s disappointing performance, saying:
Look, I’m not going to get caught up in box office numbers – that’s Disney’s concern, not mine. Honestly, I’m proud of the movie we made. The most important thing to me is that people I care about genuinely enjoyed it, and I think audiences will have a blast. It’s just a fun, escapist superhero adventure set in space. Don’t go looking for deep meaning; it’s a film about teamwork, about the bond between sisters, and about having a good time. And sometimes, that’s more than enough.
Vellani hasn’t been seen in a live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe project since her initial appearance, though there’s been talk of her being in Avengers: Doomsday. However, her presence on the set of Daredevil: Born Again’s third season suggests she might be returning to the MCU soon, even if those rumors aren’t true.
