
Cynthia Erivo, known for her role in ‘Wicked,’ finished the London Marathon this weekend with a good time, but the most memorable moment was hearing her hit song played as she crossed the finish line.
The actress is famous for both her beautiful singing and her role as Elphaba – also known as the Wicked Witch of the West – in the movie musical, Wicked.
This weekend in London, she really stood out thanks to her athletic ability, finishing the event and then celebrating with her biggest hit song.

Cynthia Erivo finished the London Marathon in an impressive 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 40 seconds. That’s a pace of about 4 minutes and 46 seconds per kilometer over the 26.2-mile course – a really great time!

As she sprinted towards the finish line, the famous song “Defying Gravity” from the musical Wicked began to play over the race’s loudspeakers.
It’s not certain if the enthusiastic crowd near the finish line was simply there to see the popular actress, or if it was a planned part of the event. Regardless, it was a wonderful sight and clearly gave Erivo a boost of energy to finish strong.
The London Marathon witnessed history this year when Sabastian Sawe became the first person to run a marathon in under two hours. The 30-year-old Kenyan athlete, last year’s London Marathon winner, finished the race in an amazing one hour, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds.
