Comedian & podcaster Laura Clery nearly dies after massive fridge falls on top of her

Oh my gosh, I was so shocked to hear about what happened to Laura Clery! Apparently, she was home alone with her kids when a HUGE – like, 600-pound – refrigerator just fell on top of her! Can you imagine? It’s terrifying to think how close she came to being seriously hurt, or worse. I’m so glad she’s okay!

On May 21st, Clery described a frightening experience on Instagram, calling it the “most terrifying night” of her life as a single mother. She explained that her refrigerator unexpectedly moved, hitting her and trapping her against the kitchen counter.

Online videos show Clery being carried away on a stretcher. She later filmed inside the ambulance, asking firefighters to explain what occurred.

Laura Clery says it took three firefighters to lift fridge off her

Clery shared more details about the situation on her Patreon page, telling followers that her large French door refrigerator was intended to be wall-mounted, as reported by USA Today.

Clery says the refrigerator started to move when her son climbed on it. As she tried to steady it, it reportedly fell forward, trapping her between the appliance and her kitchen island.

“Not in a way where I could catch it or jump out of the way,” she wrote. “It just fell. The full weight of it slammed me backward into the kitchen island, pinning my lower back and hips. I couldn’t move.”

Clery attempted to move the refrigerator on her own, but it wouldn’t budge at all. She described it as trying to push against a building – completely immovable.

She also recalled struggling to breathe while trapped underneath the appliance and said she feared she could die before managing to pull her phone from her pocket and call 911.

According to Clery, it ultimately took three firefighters to lift the refrigerator off her. When she arrived at the hospital, Clery said doctors were surprised she had not suffered any broken bones despite the severity of the accident.

I’m back home now, pretty banged up. I’m bruised and sore all over, and it’s painful to even walk. I feel completely wrecked, like I was run over by a truck – a truck that somehow also lives in my kitchen! But thankfully, I’m alright, and more importantly, my kids are okay.

Following the incident, Clery expressed her gratitude to the firefighters, praising them as “absolute heroes” in an Instagram post.

Clery stated the refrigerator wasn’t securely installed in the wall and that she was thinking about suing the contractors who did the work.
