Pearl Abyss is aiming to compete with the most popular open-world games. Their new action RPG, Crimson Desert, is set on the massive continent of Pywel. During a recent presentation, developers confirmed that the game’s map will be bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2 and at least twice the size of Skyrim.
While the game world is vast, it’s the interactivity that truly sets it apart. The developers are aiming for a highly responsive environment where even small actions, like picking up an object, will have a noticeable impact. Players will take on the role of a mercenary named Kliff, and will be able to fight, create items, and even establish a home through a house-buying system.
A major part of the game will be the “Aerial Abyss,” a collection of floating islands crucial to the story. Each island will feature a distinct environment and present players with unique puzzles to solve. While players won’t be able to pursue romantic relationships, the game is shaping up to be a grand adventure. It’s scheduled to launch on March 19, 2026, for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
