Forget Kylie Jenner – there’s a new billionaire in town, and it’s Avatar: Fire and Ash! The movie has officially earned over $1 billion worldwide. In the United States, it made $306 million, while international audiences contributed a remarkable $777 million.
With recent success, Fire and Ash became Disney’s third film to earn over $1 billion. Looking ahead to 2025, only the live-action Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia 2 are projected to reach that milestone, with James Cameron’s latest film needing a bit of time in 2026. Since 2023, Disney remains the only studio consistently producing billion-dollar movies, which balances out any less successful projects like Elio.
The latest Avatar movie is making money a little slower than the previous ones, but not by much. According to Variety, the first Avatar earned $1 billion in 17 days, while The Way of Water reached that milestone in only 14 days. This raises the question of whether Fire and Ash will reach $2 billion, but it’s too early to say – the outcome remains uncertain.
