An unexpected source has shared news about Attack the Block 2, letting fans know when filming is likely to start.

What’s the latest Attack the Block 2 update?

While promoting his new movie, The Running Man, director Edgar Wright answered a question on Reddit about the film’s progress. He clarified that he isn’t directing it, but Joe Cornish – a frequent collaborator who originally wrote and directed the source material – is currently working on it.

“Not my movie, but Joe has written a sequel and hopes to make it next year,” said Wright.

As a big fan of that 2011 horror film, I’ve been eagerly waiting for a sequel for ages! It really became a cult favorite, and people – myself included – have been asking for another one for years. We finally got some good news in 2021 when they announced it was happening and that John Boyega would be back. But honestly, things went quiet after that. Thankfully, Boyega mentioned recently that the script was finally completed, so maybe, just maybe, we’ll actually get to see it!

Released in 2011, Attack the Block helped make John Boyega a star. The film follows a group of teenagers from South London who must protect their neighborhood from an unexpected alien invasion on Guy Fawkes Night. The cast also included Jodie Whittaker, Alex Esmail, Franz Drameh, Leeon Jones, Simon Howard, Luke Treadaway, Jumayn Hunter, and Nick Frost.

Though the movie didn’t do well in theaters when it first came out, critics and viewers really loved it. Over time, it’s become a cult classic and is now considered one of the most enjoyable and original horror films from the 2010s.
