As many expected, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is launching on July 9, 2026. Developers jokingly called it “gaming’s worst kept secret,” and it promises to be packed with exciting new features.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is widely considered a standout title in the Assassin’s Creed series. Since its launch in 2013, fans have frequently requested an updated version with improved graphics and gameplay, particularly after seeing the successful remaster of Bethesda’s Oblivion.
Ubisoft recently shared a lot of exciting details about the new Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and it’s officially coming out on July 9, 2026. Here’s a rundown of everything you can expect.

Black Flag Resynced finally adds fan-demanded features
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been completely remade using the newest version of the Anvil Engine – the same technology powering recent games like Shadows and Mirage.
The game’s gameplay has been significantly enhanced. You can now freely crouch during parkour, making stealth much easier, and the missions have been completely redesigned with a greater emphasis on following suspects and listening in on conversations.
As a huge Black Flag fan, I’m really excited about the combat in this new version! They’ve totally revamped it to be much more action-packed. It sounds like sword fighting will be way more fluid and modern, and they’ve improved everything – pistols are better, ranged attacks feel great, hidden blades are smoother, and you can pull off faster attacks, parries, and even combos! It’s going to be a much more dynamic fighting experience.
Alongside improvements to Kenway’s combat, your ship is getting a major overhaul! Players can look forward to alternate firing modes for all ship weapons, adorable pet companions like cats and monkeys, the ability to easily dock and explore on land, and a fantastic new addition: both new and classic sea shanties to enjoy while sailing.
We don’t know for sure what new sea shanties will become popular – we’re hoping for another hit like ‘Wellerman’ – but we’ll definitely still enjoy all the traditional favorites.
I’m so excited! It looks like we’re getting a ton of new stuff to do! They’re adding three new officers, each with their own stories and special skills, and even more quests with our favorites like Blackbeard. Plus, they’ve really improved underwater exploration and added a dynamic weather system, so it feels like there will be endless new adventures to discover!
