An NBA game was disrupted over the weekend when a loud air horn blared continuously for five minutes inside the Little Caesars Arena, causing significant chaos.
While seeing your favorite sports team play live is often the best experience, that hasn’t been the case for fans of the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers when they’ve played in Detroit.
The game was exciting and had a lot of points, but a technical problem made the whole experience terrible for those who were there in person.
Pistons vs Cavaliers game ruined by air horn
Most basketball fans are used to hearing buzzers and air horns at games – they add to the excitement. However, it’s unusual and disruptive when those sounds continue non-stop for five minutes.
During tonight’s Pistons-Cavs game, Little Caesars Arena experienced a technical issue where the arena’s air horn repeatedly sounded for more than five minutes.

During the event at Little Caesars Arena, a problem with the sound system startled fans, causing them to cover their ears and hope the loud horn would quiet down.
ESPN’s Jorge Sedano explained that there was a total electrical failure at the score table. A technician is working quickly to try and fix the problem and reset the system.
The game clock and scoreboard stopped working throughout the building. You can still hear the horn sounding, and there’s a lot of frustration as everyone tries to understand what happened.
Honestly, I was talking to both coaching teams, and I asked them if they’d ever seen anything like this situation before, at any level of play. They both just shook their heads – they said it was a complete first for them. It’s just… unprecedented, you know?
Pistons keep up winning streak
With the Pistons leading 65-64, a malfunctioning air horn briefly stopped the game. After the issue was resolved, play continued, leading to a very close finish to the fourth quarter and ultimately a Pistons victory in overtime.
Detroit’s 122-119 victory keeps them leading the Eastern Conference, narrowly ahead of the Celtics, who set a new NBA record in their game against the Lakers last week.
