Aaron Paul surprised fans with an Instagram post revealing a change of heart about his role in the show Invincible.
Aaron Paul is best known for playing Jesse Pinkman in the hit show Breaking Bad. More recently, he’s lent his voice to the character Powerplex in the animated series Invincible.
Scott Duvall, who goes by Powerplex, holds Invincible responsible for the deaths of his sister and niece when Omni-Man attacked Chicago. Driven by rage and sorrow, he gains energy powers and seeks revenge on Mark Grayson, leading to devastating consequences.
I thought Paul was finished with Powerplex! He’d talked about how much the show had affected him, and it really seemed like he was moving on. But wow, it looks like he’s completely changed his mind and is coming back for Season 5 – I’m so surprised!
Aaron Paul posts picture of new Invincible script
Actor Aaron Paul unexpectedly shared a photo of a new Invincible script on his Instagram, jokingly calling it “some light reading.”

A recent social media post hints that the actor might be reconsidering their previous decision and will be back for Invincible Season 5. This raises the question of whether their character will experience the same tragic ending in the show as they did in the original comic books.
Why did Aaron Paul leave Invincible?
In a late 2025 interview with Kinda Funny, Aaron Paul discussed his role in Invincible. He explained that while he’s a huge fan of the show and enjoys watching it, the producers asked him to return for another season, but he declined because he found the show emotionally draining.
I really admire what they’re accomplishing, but Poweplex is dealing with a lot – he’s genuinely struggling with some difficult things.
I always try to fully understand a situation from another person’s perspective, but this time, it felt deeply uncomfortable. I realized I didn’t want to continue because of the negative impact it was having on me, and I knew I couldn’t go on like that.
Robert Kirkman, the creator of Invincible, explained Aaron Paul’s exit from the show, citing difficulties with scheduling and logistics. He told Radio Times that while the character Powerplex still appears occasionally, it’s challenging to secure Paul for significant episodes requiring a substantial performance, as getting him for just a few scenes is often impractical due to his availability.
Kirkman explained that scheduling voice actors for animation is challenging because you can’t guarantee their availability. Actors are often busy with other film or TV projects, and the show’s cast includes many highly sought-after performers, meaning there will inevitably be times when they’re unavailable.
