The Men in Black movies haven’t been released on a consistent schedule. Men in Black 2 came out five years after the first film in 1997, Men in Black 3 followed ten years later, and Men in Black: International was released in 2019. Since then, the series has been on hold, especially after International didn’t do well with critics or at the box office. Now, there’s news that a new Men in Black movie is being planned, but it’s unclear if Will Smith, one of the original stars, will be involved.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is planning a new Men in Black movie and has hired Chris Bremner, the writer of Bad Boys for Life, to write the script. While no actors are confirmed yet, sources say Will Smith will get a first look at the script once it’s finished. The current plan is for Smith to return as Agent J, though it’s still undecided whether he’ll have a main role or a smaller one. However, other sources emphasize that Smith hasn’t officially committed to the project and will wait to read the script before making a decision.
