A New Era For The MCU’s Street-Level Stories Has Finally Begun

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 6

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now focusing on more grounded, street-level stories – a style we haven’t seen much of before. Although it started with the release of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, things really gained momentum with the latest episode and the introduction of a key new character.

While fans love the large-scale adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they’re also eager to see more down-to-earth, realistic stories. The previous Marvel shows on Netflix, featuring characters like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher, were particularly popular because they delivered exactly that.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding in a big way, with both new shows and interconnected movies planned. These upcoming projects look promising, bringing back beloved characters and introducing fresh stories. It really feels like a new chapter has started, particularly with Jessica Jones recently appearing in the latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2.

7 Years Later, Jessica Jones Just Made Her MCU Return In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Episode 6

Krysten Ritter is returning to the Marvel universe as Jessica Jones! After her Netflix series was canceled seven years ago, she’ll appear in the sixth episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2.

It’s great to have Jessica back, and her return feels organic to her story, not just a way to please fans. We quickly find out that a lot has happened since her show ended – most notably, she’s now a mother to a daughter named Danielle. The show heavily suggests that Luke Cage is Danielle’s father, mirroring their relationship from the comics.

In the latest episode, Jessica is assisting Daredevil in investigating Mayor Fisk’s secret weapon shipments for a man named Mr. Charles. We learn that Charles is involved in hidden government activities and has a connection to Valentina Alegra de Fontaine. The episode also hints that he may be linked to Luke Cage, potentially explaining why Luke hasn’t been around lately.

I’m so thrilled to hear Jessica Jones is joining the fight with Daredevil in the final episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2! It sounds like she’ll be a huge part of taking down Mayor Fisk. But honestly, what really excites me is that this feels like just the beginning. It’s like the MCU is finally remembering those gritty, street-level heroes and stories we all love, and it’s going to be amazing to see where they take things beyond this season.

Jessica Jones’ Return Is Just The Beginning For The MCU’s New Street-Level Era

Right after the season finale of Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel will release Punisher: One Last Kill next week. This new MCU special will continue the trend of gritty, realistic stories with a fresh take on Frank Castle. Then, in July, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters, marking Jon Bernthal’s first appearance as the Punisher in a major film and finally giving Tom Holland’s Spider-Man the kind of down-to-earth story fans have been requesting.

Finally, it’s official: Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will reunite the Defenders! Not only will Jessica Jones return, but we’ll also see Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist – bringing the team back together after ten years since their original Netflix series. Considering everything that’s happening, it’s clear the Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering a new phase focused on street-level heroes, and it’s an exciting time to be a fan!

Marvel Studios will release new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 every Tuesday night on Disney+.
