A Complete 2026 Timeline for That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime

It’s rare for an isekai anime to become as popular as . Now in its fourth season, the show follows Rimuru Tempest and his allies as they battle powerful enemies, establish a new country, and even endure some questionable cooking! With multiple seasons, a manga, and light novels, keeping track of everything that’s happened in the anime can be tricky.

It’s been over a year and a half since the last season of Slime aired, so if you’re a fan, you might need a quick recap. This guide will remind you of the key events and when they happened.

Awakening in a New World and the Storm Dragon (Season 1, Episode 1)

Satoru Mikami, an ordinary Japanese office worker, tragically dies protecting his colleagues from an unexpected attack. As he’s dying, he hears a voice claiming to be a ‘Great Sage’ that promises him incredible abilities based on his final thoughts. He wakes up reborn as a slime in a cave in a different world. While exploring, Mikami discovers he can consume anything – objects, creatures, even enemies – to gain their powers and analyze their characteristics. He learns to absorb healing herbs and magical energy, called magicules, and even create healing potions within his own body.

Deep inside the cave, he discovers Veldora, the Storm Dragon, trapped by a magical barrier. He quickly becomes friends with Veldora and proposes a daring plan: to consume both the barrier and the dragon, then study Veldora to find a way to release him.

To show their close bond, the dragon bestows a new name upon Mikami – Rimuru – and asks him to select a family name for the two of them. Mikuru chooses ‘Tempest’, and with this new name, he receives immense power.

Aiding the Goblin Village (Season 1, Episodes 2-3)

A group of adventurers stumbled upon the cave where Rimuru was trapped and freed him. While exploring the nearby forest, he found a village of goblins. Since Veldora was gone – Rimuru had absorbed him – the goblins had been terrorized by direwolves, who had already harmed many of them.

Rimuru used the potions he created in the cave to heal the injured goblins and then prepared the village for defense. After defeating the direwolves, both the goblins and the direwolves pledged their loyalty to him. Because of this, Rimuru decided to give everyone names.

I quickly discovered something amazing: giving names to monsters actually made them stronger! I started with the goblin leader, Rigurd, and his son, Rigur, then another goblin named Gobta. When a new wolf appeared, I named him Ranga and he became their leader. Now in charge of this growing community, I decided our next step was to reach out to the dwarves of the nearby kingdom of Dwargon. That wrapped up the first part of my journey, and I have a feeling a whole new world of adventure is about to begin.

A Slime’s Journey to Dwargon (Season 1, Episodes 4-5)

Rimuru, along with his goblin and wolf companions, arrives at Dwargon, but they’re immediately bothered by some adventurers while trying to enter the city. Rimuru manages to frighten the adventurers off, but this leads to their arrest. While in Dwargon, he meets Kaijin, a skilled craftsman, and hires him and his team to assist in rebuilding the village.

Things get tense when the envious Minister Vesta interrupts, leading Kaijin to punch him after a harsh insult towards Rimuru. This results in a trial where King Gazel of Dwargon exiles Kaijin, sadly acknowledging that Vesta’s self-centered behavior cost them a skilled craftsman. Thankfully, the dwarven artisans integrate into the community and begin the process of rebuilding.

Meeting Another Otherworlder, Shizu (Season 1, Episodes 6-8)

As the town grew, more monsters arrived looking for a safe place to live. Meanwhile, the adventurers who originally discovered the cave – Gido, Kaval, and Ellen – returned, fleeing from dangerous creatures. Rimuru stepped in to help them, and they introduced a fourth member who had joined their group.

Shizu is originally from Japan and was brought to this world through a summoning ritual, intended to make her a warrior for a demon lord. She became connected with the fire spirit Ifrit and was compelled to commit terrible acts, including killing others. Eventually, a hero saved her and gave her the mask she now wears.

Sadly, she almost harms her friends again because of the powerful influence of Ifrit, forcing Rimuru to stop her. Knowing she’s dying, Shizu asks Rimuru to consume her so her body doesn’t remain in a world she despises. He agrees, and by doing so, gains a human body that looks like Shizu, with a somewhat androgynous appearance.

The March of the Orc Disaster (Season 1, Episodes 9-15)

Those who confessed to destroying the ogre village were calmed down by Rimuru, who then discovered a much larger problem: an army of orcs was rampaging across the land, consuming everything in its path. The ogres allied with Rimuru’s group and were given names – Benimaru as their leader, his sister Shuna as a princess, the strong Shion, the wise Hakurou, and the stealthy Souei.

The Lizardmen want to team up with the goblins to fight the orcs, and Gabiru, a Lizardman prince, goes to discuss an alliance. However, his arrogance ruins the talks, leading to a fight with Gobta, a goblin, who defeats him. Humiliated, Gabiru is tricked by a mysterious clown named Laplace into rebelling against his father. Gabiru then leads his people into war with the orcs, but they are ultimately overwhelmed by the orcs’ relentless aggression.

He rallied the forest dwellers to fight for their survival. With help from the dryad Treyni, he created the Jura Forest Alliance to stop the Orc invasion. The forest people gathered, and a massive battle began.

Rimuru devoured the Orc Lord Geld, gaining his abilities and pacifying the orc army. Instead of destroying them, Rimuru chose to help them rebuild their lives and integrate into a new community. This led to the creation of Jura-Tempest, a new nation established in the Jura Forest, with the city Rimuru constructed – now called Tempest – as its center.

Enter the Demon Lords, and Charybdis (Season 1, Episodes 16-19)

With the Federation established and the Orc Lord vanquished, everyone is watching this new country. The powerful Demon Lord Milim initially attacks, but she’s quickly won over by the incredibly delicious honey produced in their city.

A new danger emerges in the form of Charybdis, a monster who takes control of Phobio, a servant of the demon lord Carrion. Simultaneously, Carrion and the nation of Eurazania make an agreement with the Jura-Tempest Federation to avoid conflict.

Shizu’s Students Arc (Season 1, Episodes 20-23 + Rimuru’s Glamorous Life as a Teacher OVAs 1-3)

Rimuru is troubled by recurring dreams of Shizu’s students – children taken from Earth to be soldiers, but abandoned when the world’s magic proved fatal to them. Seeking answers or a connection, Rimuru decides to meet Yuuki Kagurazaki, another individual originally from Japan.

Yuuki is now leading the Freedom Association. He informs Rimuru that Shizu’s students don’t have much time left – less than five years. He also mentions Hinata Sakaguchi, one of Shizu’s former students who was an adult and had become even more powerful than her.

Rimuru begins teaching five children – Chloe Aubert, Gale Gibson, Kenya Misaki, Alice Rondo, and Ryota Sekiguchi. Initially, the children don’t see the value in studying, knowing their lifespans are limited, but Rimuru assures them he’ll find a way to save them. He brings them to the Labyrinth, where he’s able to stabilize their souls and ultimately succeed in saving their lives.

Visions of Coleus (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime OVAs 1-3)

Rimuru travels to the Kingdom of Coleus to help solve a problem with who will become the next ruler. While there, he discovers a scheme by a court official named Gustav to use Princess Zenobia as a host for an evil god. Rimuru successfully handles the situation, and Sauzer ends up becoming king.

Falmuth’s Evil Schemes (Season 2, Episodes 3-7)

Falmuth is worried about losing business to the growing Jura-Tempest Federation, so King Edimaris starts plotting a way to maintain their trade dominance. This makes them vulnerable to being controlled by the Western Holy Church and the powerful Demon Lord Clayman.

A terrible scheme is hatched: Mjurran will generate a field that suppresses magic, making Tempest’s monsters vulnerable. Meanwhile, three individuals from another world – Shogo, Kirara, and Kyoya – will manufacture a crisis to justify an attack, all while ensuring Mjurran remains absent when Tempest needs him most.

Exploiting trouble caused by outsiders and taking advantage of a weakened magical barrier, Falmuth’s knights attacked Tempest, brutally killing many civilians, even children. While Tempest’s defenders fought back, they were overwhelmed, and several heroes, including Shion, were killed in the attack.

Rimuru pretended to die during his battle with Hinata, hurrying back to Tempest. But when he arrived, he discovered a terrible massacre had already occurred, filling him with regret. Driven by guilt, Rimuru, along with the Great Sage and his allies, devised a desperate plan: Rimuru would gain the power of a Demon Lord and use it to bring everyone back to life.

The Birth of a Demon Lord (Season 2, Episodes 8-12)

Mjurran wants to make amends for her past mistakes and decides to help Rimuru. When the army from Falmuth returns, Tempest’s heroes are prepared to deliver justice and get their revenge. During the conflict, Hakurou kills the otherworlder Kyoya, and Shogo, overcome with fear, accidentally kills his companion Kirara while desperately trying to take her abilities. Ultimately, his efforts are unsuccessful.

Razen, Falmuth’s powerful sorcerer, initially appears to comfort him, but then cruelly shatters his spirit and takes control of his body. The truth comes to light: the summoned heroes were always just tools, meant to be used and discarded by those who brought them here.

Rimuru starts the harvest festival, which is also the ritual to become a Demon Lord. During the festival, he uses powerful magic to quickly defeat and absorb the souls of thousands of Falmuth soldiers. He then captures the King of Falmuth and the Archbishop of the Western Church as prisoners.

During his transformation into a Demon Lord, Rimuru calls upon Diablo, a powerful Archdemon who pledges his loyalty. Diablo assists in finishing the transformation ritual and capturing Razen. Rimuru successfully becomes a Demon Lord, and in the process, Great Sage evolves into Raphael. The plan is a success, and incredibly, everyone who died in Tempest is revived.

The Demon Lord Banquet of Walpurgis (Season 2, Episodes 13-24)

Demon Lord Clayman is behind everything happening, and Rimuru is working to stop him and earn a place among the Demon Lords at their Walpurgis banquet. As part of this, the powerful storm dragon Veldora is released, and Rimuru gives him a human form as a gift.

Clayman appeared to be controlling Milim, giving her orders to attack Eurazania and kill the Demon Lord Carrion. However, during the banquet, Milim revealed she hadn’t been controlled and that Carrion was still alive. Rimuru exposed Clayman’s deception, and after defeating him, was officially recognized as a true Demon Lord by the octagram and its leader, Guy Crimson.

The Scarlet Bond of the Ogres (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Film)

Hiro is one of the few ogres who lived through the attack that wiped out most of his people. He was rescued by the nation of Raja and its queen, Towa. Now, Hiro has come to Tempest, where he joyfully reconnects with old friends and asks for their assistance with difficulties facing Raja.

When Rimuru arrives in Raja, he discovers that the kingdom’s water supply and the queen have been poisoned. He quickly uses Tempest Honey to heal Towa and then completely cleanses the lake. This act exposes a conspiracy, revealing that the merchant Lacua is the demon behind it all. Rimuru defeats Lacua, restoring peace to the kingdom.

A New Beginning for Tempest (Season 3, Episodes 1-11)

The Moderate Harlequin Alliance, a troublesome group headed by the clown Laplace, is scheming to overthrow the nation of Tempest. Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Falmuth is falling apart after its loss, and they plan to put an adventurer named Youm in charge as the new leader.

Rimuru tries to reach out to Hinata peacefully, but her message is altered to make it seem like Rimuru is hostile, leading Hinata to believe she must fight him. This results in a large battle between Hinata’s knights and Rimuru’s forces, though thankfully no one is killed. After the battle, Rimuru and Hinata talk and discover a plot orchestrated by a mysterious group known as the Seven Luminaries.

The Great Festival of Tempest(Season 3, Episodes 12-24)

Now that Tempest has been recognized as a nation, Rimuru plans a festival to introduce his country to the world and throw a big celebration. He hopes this will attract adventurers looking for challenges. As a fun addition, Rimuru allows Veldora to live in Tempest and enjoy reading manga whenever he has free time.

I’ve been watching groups arrive in the city for the festival, and it’s quite a sight. It seems like everyone wants to assess Rimuru – local tribes are here to see if he’s someone they should follow, while representatives from other nations and even demon lords are essentially challenging him to prove he deserves their respect. And it’s nice to see King Youm here with his wife, Mjurran, representing his new kingdom as well.

A martial arts tournament takes place, and Hinata encounters Shizu’s students. Meanwhile, a dangerous plot against Tempest reaches a critical point, and Rimuru faces a sudden financial problem. Luckily, his friend King Gazel and Emperor Elmesia offer assistance. Elmesia provides funds to cover Rimuru’s debts to a group of merchants who…

After paying the merchants, and with witnesses watching, Rimuru permanently barred them from doing business in Tempest, effectively ending their plans. He then started planning the construction of a train line through the mountains.

Now that Tempest is thriving and expanding, Rimuru faces new challenges from the manipulative Mariabell Rosso. The labyrinth he created beneath the city is also causing unforeseen problems, but his journey is only just beginning.
