Jennifer Aniston recently discussed the wave of subscription cancellations from Disney+ and Hulu with Elle magazine as part of their Women in Hollywood issue. She believes these cancellations clearly demonstrate public disapproval of the company’s choices. “What’s happening is concerning and unfortunate,” she said. “But ultimately, viewers have the power – we pay for these services, and the large number of cancellations really showed where people stand.”
The Friends actress emphasized the need to understand different political viewpoints. She warned that increasing division is damaging the country and encouraged Americans to be respectful of one another. “It’s crucial that we listen to all sides,” she explained. “We’ve stopped communicating and having productive conversations where we can learn from each other. People seem stuck in their own beliefs, unwilling to compromise, and that simply isn’t a sustainable way to move forward.”
In September 2025, ABC temporarily took Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, off the air after he discussed a threat against Charlie Kirk during the broadcast. This sparked a strong public backlash, with many viewers canceling their Disney streaming subscriptions in protest.
Several Disney stars publicly criticized the company following the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel. Tatiana Maslany, known for her role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, encouraged fans to stop supporting Disney on social media. Pedro Pascal, from The Mandalorian and The Fantastic Four, showed his support for Kimmel, posting a picture with the caption, “Standing with you, Jimmy Kimmel. Defend free speech, defend democracy.” Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk, also cautioned Disney that they could face financial consequences if Kimmel isn’t reinstated.
After facing public criticism, Disney brought Jimmy Kimmel back on air a week later. During his return show, he thanked those who had supported him and explained his comments about Kirk’s death, clarifying that he never intended to cause offense. Kimmel emphasized that his criticism was directed solely at the person responsible for the activist’s murder.
