A Pokemon card that hasn’t been released yet is already available online for a high price – around $800. If you want to get your hands on it now, that’s what it’ll cost.
Collecting Pokémon cards should be a fun hobby for everyone. However, it doesn’t always work out that way. We’ve often seen people go to great lengths – and sometimes even do extreme things – just to obtain the newest cards.
People have gone to extreme lengths to get their hands on the product, including camping out overnight, raiding vending machines, and even fighting in parking lots – the frenzy just keeps going.
Okay, so the Pokemon card scene is getting seriously crazy right now. I’ve been seeing listings on eBay for a card that isn’t even out yet, and people are asking for up to $800 for it! Wargamer pointed it out, and it’s just wild to see.
Mega Gengar ex already listed online before launch
The Pokémon card causing a buzz is Mega Gengar ex, which will be released in the new Mega Dream expansion. But how did it appear for sale online before the official release? It’s because the expansion was available for pre-order.

Even though the official release date isn’t until November 28, 2025, some sellers are already listing Mega Gengar cards for sale, even though the cards aren’t available yet.
It’s not surprising that all the listings use the same picture, as the card hasn’t actually been released yet. The whole thing is quite odd, really.
Buying these listings is risky for collectors. They could be temporary and inaccurate, meaning you won’t know exactly what you’re getting until the official release. Plus, because you can’t see the card’s condition beforehand, it’s an even greater gamble.
It’s not unusual for Pokémon card prices to be high, as has happened with previous collections. However, selling cards before they’re even officially released is a completely different situation.
Buying from a reseller might let you quickly get the rare Mega Pokémon card you want, but it’s risky – there’s no guarantee the seller will actually be able to find and deliver it.
