Roguelite games are incredibly popular at the moment. Developers are increasingly blending the genre’s replayable, cyclical gameplay with other types of games – examples like Balatro and Drop Duchy prove this. Now, independent developers eSolu and Team Mojo Games are joining the trend with their new game, Odds Chronicles.
I’m really excited about Odds Chronicles! It’s a game where you fight on a grid, and each time you play (a ‘run’), it’s different because of the dice. Basically, every time you roll the dice, it gives your team something new – like a boost to their strength or magic. It’s a cool mix of strategy and luck!
I’ve played a bunch of those dice-based roguelites and roguelikes – Dicey Dungeons is a classic, for example – and I’m always up for seeing the genre get shaken up. What I really like about this new take is mixing those dice rolls with a grid-based tactics game. It feels natural, because a lot of turn-based games already use percentages to determine if your attacks hit, and this just makes that feel more exciting and thematic, kinda like those old SOCOM games where everything felt like a gamble.
Based on the announcement trailer, Odds Chronicles appears to be a well-crafted tactical roguelite that could really stand out. It’s currently planned to release on Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2026, with versions for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S coming afterward.
