Many Battlefield 6 players are creating private games with bots because the game requires a lot of repetitive effort to unlock items and progress. The game’s assignments and challenges are seen as tedious, leading players to seek faster ways to earn experience and complete them.
DICE didn’t agree with this change, as it stopped players from earning experience points by playing against bots in Battlefield Portal. Many players are disappointed, because some enjoy playing with bots more than traditional multiplayer.
The developers recently released a new version called Breakthrough, hoping it will address the issue, but I’m not convinced it’s the best solution.
Battlefield 6’s Adds Bots For A More Casual Experience

The Battlefield team announced on X (formerly Twitter) that they’ve added “Casual Breakthrough,” a new game mode combining human players with bots for a more laid-back experience.
DICE has added a new, more relaxed way to experience Battlefield called Casual Breakthrough. It lets you play and earn progress without the pressure of competitive matches. You can find it in the Multiplayer section of the main menu.
Casual Breakthrough features 32 players split into two teams of 16, with 8 players on each side. This means half of the characters you encounter during a match will be computer-controlled bots.
Players will advance by earning Career XP, Weapon XP, and Battle Pass XP, as well as by completing challenges. To ensure fair play, the game will reward full XP for actions against other players, but less XP for actions against bots. Currently, the Casual game mode features the Siege of Cairo and Empire State maps.
DICE seems to be trying to find a solution that pleases everyone, but the problem really stems from the Assignments being excessively difficult. The developers have mentioned adjustments, but even with the release of Season 1, they haven’t made enough of a difference yet.
Based on how the developers have been addressing concerns, fans are optimistic that the issues will be fixed quickly.
