Walt Disney World in Orlando is building exciting new areas in three of its four theme parks. After recently completing TRON Lightcycle / Run, Disney is now sharing details about what these upcoming lands will offer, including attractions and restaurants. For the first time, fans can get a preview of what to expect in the years ahead.
Disney is giving guests a sneak peek at its upcoming theme park expansions. For the first time since announcing these major new lands, Disney has created an exhibit inside one of its parks featuring concept art and details about what visitors can expect. The exhibit focuses on three new areas: a Monsters, Inc. land (likely called Monstropolis) at Hollywood Studios, a *Carsthemed area called Piston Peak at Magic Kingdom, and a new section called Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom.

Disney had previously shared artwork and a model of the Tropical Americas land (at the 2024 D23 Expo), but this marks the first time all of the land displays have been shown together in one location.
If you’re planning a trip to the parks, be sure to visit Hollywood Studios! You can take a self-guided tour of the “Walt Disney Presents” exhibit to get a sneak peek at displays and information about the new themed lands.
Official Descriptions for Disney’s Upcoming Lands
Monstropolis

Each section of the exhibit highlights what guests can expect in that particular land. For instance, the display for the Monsters, Inc. area includes concept art showing the overall design of the future land. A key feature will be a new theater replacing the former MuppetVision 3D, and a large building at the back of the land will house the *Monstersthemed suspended rollercoaster.
The exhibit also features concept art of Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan (Sully) clinging to a door as a rollercoaster train passes by.
Disney’s new Monstropolis area will feature shopping, dining, and a groundbreaking suspended coaster – a first for any Disney park.
Get ready to visit Monstropolis! After years of being scary creatures, the monsters are now opening their doors to humans at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This new land, based on the ‘Monsters, Inc.’ movies, will have shops, restaurants, and a groundbreaking coaster – the first of its kind at a Disney park! Just like in the film, the ride will start with guests being lifted into the air before speeding through the famous Door Vault on a thrilling adventure.

Monstropolis’ concept art is also joined by figures of Mike and Sully.
Tropical Americas
Disney World is planning to open a new area called Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom in the next few years. This area will feature attractions based on the movies Encanto and Indiana Jones. The Indiana Jones ride will take the place of the current Dinosaur attraction.

The Tropical Americas exhibit showcases concept art similar to what you’d find for Monstropolis, but it also includes a physical model of the new land being built.

The digital model showcases everything from the iconic Casa Madrigal, featured in Encanto, to the temple building that will house the new Indiana Jones attraction. It’s incredibly detailed, offering visitors a realistic preview of the upcoming land’s appearance.
The Tropical Americas area of the exhibit features concept art that shows both the interiors and exteriors of attractions like the Indiana Jones ride and the Encanto house, among others.
The Tropical Americas area will feature a central fountain, a quick-service restaurant, a beautifully crafted carousel, and two main attractions when it opens to guests.
Get ready to explore a stunning new area at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! This immersive land will bring the vibrant rainforests and captivating stories of the Tropical Americas to life. Disney Imagineers have created a beautifully detailed and authentic experience, complete with a gorgeous central fountain, a quick-service dining spot, and a unique hand-carved carousel. The land will also be home to two incredible attractions: a first-of-its-kind ride based on the movie ‘Encanto’, and a brand new ‘Indiana Jones’ adventure that you won’t find anywhere else.
Piston Peak National Park

Out of the three new lands planned for Hollywood Studios, Piston Peak National Park is generating the most discussion. This is because it will take the place of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, both popular attractions at Magic Kingdom.
Disney has previously shown concept art of the Piston Peak area layout, and now they’ve released more art featuring characters from the Cars movies who will appear in the land.
Notably, some sketches of other cars made their way into the display.
Piston Peak’s official description promises guests will get to “explore the natural wonders of the American wilderness.” The land will also feature two brand-new attractions, including a rally race.
Prepare for adventure! Piston Peak National Park from Disney and Pixar’s ‘Cars’ is coming to Magic Kingdom. This new area in Frontierland will let guests discover the beautiful landscapes of the American countryside. Along with amazing scenery and beloved characters, it will include two brand-new attractions: an exciting rally race around the park and a family-friendly experience.

The Piston Peak exhibit also includes 3-D models of Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater.
