Man goes viral selling ads on his tuxedo to help pay for wedding

To help cover the costs of his wedding, a man cleverly transformed his suit into a hockey or esports jersey by selling advertising space on it.

Weddings often come with a high price tag. Between the location, outfits, catering, and especially the bar, costs can quickly add up. It’s tough to cover all those expenses, particularly with the current economic climate.

Because weddings can be expensive, some couples choose to save money by having less traditional catering, like ordering pizza from Domino’s.

Dagobert Renouf came up with a clever, if unusual, plan. He decided to fund his wedding by asking for sponsorships and then claiming the costs as a business advertising expense back in July.

The idea was brilliant. Within weeks, he’d secured enough advertising to cover his suit and was preparing to have it made.

I’m currently asking friends and family to contribute to our wedding costs as if it were a business advertising expense. I secured seven sponsorships today.

Man’s sponsor-filled suit pays for wedding

Renouf’s wedding was a success on October 25th, and he famously walked down the aisle wearing a suit covered in advertisements from more than 20 different companies.

He shared photos from his wedding on X, thanking the 26 startups who contributed financially to help make the day possible. He described it as a beautiful celebration.

The salesman said the advertising more than paid for his suit – it actually generated an extra $2,000 in profit.

“Sold $10k then $2.5k taxes then $5.5k suit. So basically it paid for the suit + $2k,” he said.

It’s no surprise the bride didn’t wear a dress covered in advertisements. However, considering all the attention on the bride at a wedding, it’s interesting to think about how much money the couple might have earned if they had chosen to do so.

If you’re planning a wedding on a tight budget, consider this: you could get paid to advertise while you say your vows! It involves becoming a ‘walking billboard’ on your big day.
