Doom Board Game Kickstarter Launches, Offers Retro And Modern Ripping, Tearing

Fans of the video game Doom might soon be able to play it as a board game! A new Kickstarter campaign has launched for “Doom: The Arena Board Game,” bringing the fast-paced action to your tabletop. Like the board game adaptation of “Vampire Survivors,” this version includes detailed miniatures of demons and other hellish creatures. There will even be a second edition called “Doom: The Dark Ages,” featuring a unique set of miniatures.

Created with the official blessing of id Software and Bethesda, and in collaboration with Resurrectionist Games, this campaign is being developed and published by Modiphius. They’re hoping to raise $133,000 and have already secured approximately $50,000 as of this writing.

This board game brings the fast-paced action of DOOM to your tabletop! You and your friends will play as characters and control monsters straight from the video game, using detailed miniatures. ‘Doom the Arena Board Game’ is easy to pick up, but offers a deep strategic experience – think of it like chess with a heavy metal edge. Each piece moves and attacks in a unique way, so you’ll need to carefully plan your moves to win.

The main objective is to inflict the most damage. Every hit you land gets you closer to winning. Players fight in up to three rounds, and after each round, they use points to improve their army. The Doom Slayer can unlock better weapons, and the demons can summon stronger units. After playing three rounds, whoever has caused the most damage wins the match.

Okay, so now that the funding’s sorted, the team’s jumping straight into writing and designing the game – they’re aiming to have that wrapped up by March. Then, they’ll start making the physical copies in June. Looks like we’re on track to get everything shipped out around October! They’ve also already factored in shipping costs and any potential import fees, and there’s a handy chart showing roughly what those might be depending on where you are.

We’re still keeping an eye on US tariffs on goods from China, but don’t worry – the prices you see already include any import duties for our customers in the US. We’ll handle importing the rewards ourselves and ship them from within the US, so you won’t have to pay extra tariffs or duties on top of your pledge and shipping costs. Currently, we aren’t shipping rewards to Russia, Belarus, or countries in Central and South America, or to those involved in conflict: Iran, Ukraine, Israel, and Sudan. However, we may revisit this list depending on how global events unfold.

We’re on track to hit our primary goal today! If we surpass it, we’ll be working on improvements like better card and box quality, as well as creating alternate versions of the Doom and Dark Age monster figures.
