Next year is the 30th anniversary of the popular video game character Crash Bandicoot. Despite being around for three decades, he hasn’t appeared in any TV shows or movies of his own – until now, potentially. Recent reports indicate that Netflix is considering a Crash Bandicoot television series.
WildBrain Studios is working on a new animated series based on the popular video game character, Crash Bandicoot, according to What’s on Netflix. While details about the show’s creators haven’t been released, WildBrain has experience with video game adaptations, having previously produced shows like Sonic Prime and Carmen Sandiego. They’re also known for other animated series including Johnny Test, Go Dog Go, The Snoopy Show, Fireman Sam, and Polly Pocket.
Netflix offers a growing number of shows based on video games, like Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, two different Castlevania series, Devil May Cry, and the new Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. They’re also working on a live-action Assassin’s Creed series.

First Universal Interactive had them, and now it’s Activision. We finally got a new Crash game in 2020 with Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, which was awesome. But apparently, things weren’t always smooth sailing. I just heard from a concept artist at Toys for Bob that they actually canceled Crash Bandicoot 5 while they were making it last year. That’s a bummer!
Shuji Utsumi, formerly of Sony and now CEO of Sega of America, recently shared that Hollywood studios rejected Sega’s idea for a Crash Bandicoot movie. While Neil Druckmann, head of Naughty Dog, believes a Crash Bandicoot film could be great, he points out that Microsoft now holds the decision-making power, as they acquired Activision.
