Popular streamer IShowSpeed has pledged to buy a house for the mother of the fan who created the widely shared ‘my mom’s kinda homeless‘ meme, in a touching display of generosity.
IShowSpeed is a hugely popular streamer known for his funny and energetic reactions. His lively personality has helped him gain millions of fans on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
A particular moment from the show has become incredibly popular online, turning into a meme that people still share today, despite being from several years ago.
IShowSpeed ‘my mom’s kinda homeless’ meme explained
Four years ago, while playing Fortnite, Speed encountered a 12-year-old fan named ‘Acey’ who begged him to intentionally lose the match. Acey explained over voice chat that his mother was experiencing homelessness.
“Hurry, please! This is important!” Acey pleaded. “My mom doesn’t have a home, and I live with my dad. I’m trying to help her.”
Speed immediately stopped playing and squeezed his eyes shut, clearly struggling to hold back laughter. He scrunched up his face, then quickly composed himself, adopting a calm and peaceful look.
Another player noticed Speed watching the stream and asked, “Why are you trying so hard not to laugh? That’s really disrespectful!”
The video clip is a few years old, but it’s recently become popular as a reaction image online. It’s become so widespread that Speed, the person in the video, reconnected with the fan who originally filmed it.
IShowSpeed reunites with ‘my mom’s kinda homeless’ fan
Acey and Speed reunited on a livestream on October 26th, where Acey shared the good news that his mother is now housed and doing relatively well financially. To celebrate, Speed recreated his look from their first stream and also invited the other player who had playfully teased him for struggling to keep a straight face.
While streaming, Speed played a one-on-one Fortnite match against Ayce. They added a high-stakes twist to the game: if Ayce won, Speed promised to buy a new house for his mother.
Turns out, Ayce won the bet! Speed followed through on his promise, telling Ayce’s mom the good news and vowing to buy her a new house in Las Vegas.
Speed explained that four years ago, someone had said I was essentially homeless, living in a transitional housing facility. Apparently, he’d made a bet that if he won, he’d buy his mother a house in Las Vegas, and he did win. Now, he’s going to reach out to me to arrange a house for me, so I won’t have to worry about being homeless anymore.

A heartwarming video is quickly spreading online, with people both amazed and touched by Speed’s generous donation.
“We really made the right person famous,” one fan wrote on X.
“That’s actually incredible to see,” another said.
“This man just did more for housing than half the politicians out there,” another remarked.
A recent highlight from Speed’s live streams shows him reacting to AI-created videos of himself. He found them surprisingly realistic and decided not to show them on his channel.
