Ubisoft revealed today that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2, 2025. The game has been specially designed to work well whether you’re playing on your TV or handheld, and it will even let you use the touchscreen to easily navigate menus, maps, and your hideout.
When Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on the Nintendo Switch 2, it will include all updates released for the game so far. The only addition coming later – the ‘Claws of Awaji’ expansion – will be available early next year.
Charles Benoit, Game Director for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, announced they’re excited to bring the game to Nintendo players. He explained that players can experience feudal Japan as either Naoe, moving stealthily through the shadows, or Yasuke, confronting enemies directly, all on the Nintendo Switch 2, whether at home or on the go.
When the new Nintendo Switch 2 launches, players can buy the standard version of the game for $59.99. It will be available as a physical copy with a game card, or as a digital download from the Nintendo eShop. A digital-only Premium Edition will cost $99.99. Players on the Switch 2 will also be able to continue their progress on other platforms thanks to cross-progression through Ubisoft Connect.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, developed by Ubisoft Quebec*, takes players to feudal Japan with a beautifully detailed and immersive world built on an upgraded Anvil engine. The game lets you play as two characters: Naoe, a stealthy assassin, and Yasuke, a strong samurai. You can switch between them easily, using their different skills to work together, discover their connected story, and shape the future of Japan.
As a huge Assassin’s Creed fan, I’m excited to share that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is out now! You can play it on a bunch of platforms – Ubisoft+, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and the new PS5 Pro, plus on PC through the Ubisoft and Epic Games stores, and even Steam! Mac users with Apple silicon can also get it directly from the Mac App Store, and it’s available on Amazon Luna too.
