FromSoftware has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring, called Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, will now be released in 2026. Originally planned for this year, the delay will allow the developers to further optimize the game’s performance.
This isn’t surprising, as reports from Gamescom suggested the game’s frame rate could fall to as low as 15 frames per second when played in handheld mode. FromSoftware has stated they’ll share more information about the next update once they’ve finalized a release date.
The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition combines the original game with its expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, into a single, complete package. It also includes the Tarnished Pack, offering players new armor, weapons, ways to customize their characters, and two additional starting classes. The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which was originally planned as paid downloadable content for other platforms, has been delayed until next year, the developer announced.
Good news for fans: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is out now, and more paid downloadable content is planned for release later this year, although we don’t have a specific date yet.
