Action star Jason Statham’s new thriller, Mutiny, has a confirmed release date after being delayed. The film, directed by Jean-François Richet, follows Cole Reed (Statham) who is wrongly accused of murdering his wealthy employer. Seeking revenge, he sets sail on a cargo ship and stumbles upon a much larger conspiracy.
Deadline reports that the action movie Mutiny, starring Jason Statham, will hit theaters on August 21, 2026. The film was initially planned for a January 2026 release, but was then delayed with no new date announced. More recently, rumors suggested a summer 2026 release, which this new date now confirms.
Jason Statham’s upcoming film, Mutiny, continues his successful partnership with Lionsgate. He’s well-known for starring in their Expendables series, most recently appearing in Expend4bles (2023). He’s also led several other popular action franchises for the studio, including The Transporter and Crank, making Mutiny the latest addition to their ongoing collaboration.
Jason Statham leads the cast of Mutiny, joined by Arnas Fedaravičius, Adrian Lester, Roland Møller, Ramon Tikaram, Annabelle Wallis, and Jason Wong. The script was written by J.P. Davis, who previously penned the 2004 film Fighting Tommy Riley, and Lindsay Michel, marking her first feature film writing credit. This is also director Richet’s first film since Plane in 2023.
Jason Statham has several new action movies coming out. He’ll be in Shelter, a thriller directed by Ric Roman Waugh and co-starring Bill Nighy, which hits theaters on January 30, 2026. He’s also working on The Beekeeper 2, a sequel to his popular 2024 film.
I’m really excited to hear Jason Statham is likely coming back as Deckard Shaw for the last Fast & Furious film! They haven’t announced when it’ll be out yet, though. Right now, Mutiny is the next movie he’s got scheduled for release. It’s going to be up against the new Insidious movie from Blumhouse, but I think because they’re so different, it should still do well in theaters.
Now that the release date for Mutiny is set, this exciting action movie has a good chance of becoming a big hit during the summer. Releasing it well after Jason Statham’s Shelter gives both films a better opportunity to do well. We can expect to learn more about Mutiny as the summer approaches.
