Ever since Battlefield 6 dropped on October 10th, I’ve noticed a big dip in the number of people playing Arma Reforger, especially on weekends. It’s a shame, because Reforger is good, but everyone seems to be jumping over to Battlefield right now.
Before the release of Battlefield 6, Arma Reforger was quite popular on weekends, typically seeing 17,000 to 18,000 players online at the same time – and even more when a new update came out. Since then, the number of concurrent players has decreased to around 13,000 to 14,000.
The recent release of Battlefield 6 isn’t just affecting Arma Reforger; other military first-person shooters are also seeing fewer players. Games like Delta Force, Squad, and Helldivers 2 have all experienced a drop in numbers. This seems to be a widespread trend across the genre, and with the first season of Battlefield 6 on the way, it might take some time for player numbers in other games to recover.
This news likely wasn’t surprising to other game developers, as they probably anticipated it. Battlefield fans had been eagerly awaiting a new game for almost four years – even longer considering the mixed reception of Battlefield 2042. The anticipation was clearly high, demonstrated by the creation of a Battlefield-inspired mod within Arma Reforger, showing just how much players wanted a quality Battlefield experience.
