A designer at Meta has built an AI app that creates realistic-looking vacation photos, allowing people to appear as if they’ve visited places they haven’t.
The tool, called Endless Summer, was created by Laurent Del Rey, a product designer who recently joined Meta’s Superintelligence lab.
This app uses Google’s Gemini Nano-Banana technology to create fake photo albums, letting users see themselves as if they’ve traveled the world – relaxing in Bali, exploring Paris, or enjoying beautiful beaches.
I created a fun little app called Endless Summer to help when you’re feeling stressed and need a mental escape – it lets you create fake vacation photos! It’s my first app, built entirely by me, and it’s now available on the App Store. Check it out! – saint laurent del rey (@laurentdelrey) October 6, 2025
The app offers AI-generated vacation photos in a few different bundles: 30 images for $3.99, 150 for $17.99, or 300 for $34.99. It also has a fun “room service” feature that delivers two new fake travel photos to your phone automatically every morning.
I was so excited to hear Del Rey talk about his new project, Endless Summer! He described it as something to help you escape when you’re totally burned out – a way to pretend you’re on a relaxing vacation, even if you can’t actually get away. He told TechCrunch he got the idea because he loves to travel himself, but he also realizes how tough it is for a lot of people to afford real vacations with everything costing so much and wages not keeping up.
haha so fun and simple

He explained that he wanted to create something that captured the feeling of summer ending. He actually started with that emotional goal and then designed the product to achieve it.
The project has caused a lot of online discussion, and some people are criticizing it, saying it shows how increasingly blurred the lines are between what’s real and what’s fake online.
