The new Pokémon Legends Z-A game has quickly become a talking point among players, as it doesn’t offer an option to turn off auto-saving.
Okay, so Z-A doesn’t come out until October 16th, but people are already getting their hands on it! Reviews are starting to pop up everywhere, and those first players are quickly sharing all sorts of cool discoveries online. It’s getting me so hyped!
The problem with Pokemon games always automatically saving mostly happens during certain activities.
Past Pokémon games have always let players turn off auto-saving. This makes it much easier to hunt for Shiny Pokémon – a really popular part of the games – because players can restart their game whenever they want to try for better results.
Early Pokemon Z-A copies confirm no auto-save
Players with early access to the game Z-A noticed that the auto-save feature could not be turned on or off in the settings, meaning players no longer had control over this function.
NO DISABLING AUTO SAVE!

Because saving the game is crucial for techniques like shiny hunting and soft resetting, fans are upset that these methods are now much harder, or even impossible, to do.
This is the first major Pokémon game to completely get rid of this feature. Previous titles, like Scarlet & Violet and Legends: Arceus, still had it.
If players continue to strongly dislike the missing feature, it’s unclear whether Game Freak will bring it back, or if that’s even achievable.
